The Sun Shall Rise

“But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings.” Malachi 4:2a
I wasn’t expecting today to be quite so lovely. The weather app on my phone, if I remember correctly, had the high in the 50s and the sun clouded over. Or maybe I misread it! At any rate, today surprised me. What an amazing day! Baseball tryouts gave way to a trip to get a new bike for one of the kids. Then yard work, a run, and a bike ride. Tonight, Greta is going to skate with her new hockey club (she’s trying something new for the spring). And when this blog is finished, it’s probably time for a cold drink on the back deck.
I’d say this doesn’t have much to do with theology or faith or God, but it does. Who is God if not the One with the power to surprise and delight us? I hope and pray that whatever today has brought your way, it has been a joy. And if today has been dark in spite of the spring sunshine, remember that a new dawn will come tomorrow. The sun will continue to rise, for the Son has been raised in the righteousness of God.
Don’t forget to spring forward!
Be well, friends. You are loved.
God of light and life, we rejoice in the surprising gifts you give. Bless your people with healing. Let us reflect your love to one another. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
