Here you’ll find sermons, thoughts, and reflections on faith and life from Dave Lyle, Senior Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church & School, River Forest, IL.

Dave has been serving in ministry with the people of Grace since 2015. Originally from Appleton, WI, Dave holds degrees from The College of William & Mary, Luther Seminary, and Candler School of Theology. As a recipient of the Graduate Preaching Fellowship, he studied homiletics at The Institute for Theology, Imagination and the Arts at The University of St. Andrews, Scotland. Prior to coming to River Forest, Dave served as pastor of First English Lutheran Church, Appleton, WI, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Pawleys Island, SC.

Dave is passionate about proclaiming Christ and his kingdom, already lurking and working in the lives of believers. Before ordination, he spent four summers as a counselor for Crossways Camping Ministries and five summers doing youth ministry in a congregational setting. Dave has written for Working Preacher, The Christian Century, and the Daily Texts from Ground Up Grace. He makes his home in Oak Park with his wife, Erika, their daughter, Greta, and their sons, Anders and Torsten. He is a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Royals, and spends his free time at hockey rinks and baseball fields or reading a book.
