“I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua:1:9

Ten people murdered in a grocery store in Boulder. How long, O Lord? How long must your people live in fear of random acts of violence? How long must we bury our dead too soon? How long?

Today’s verse from the Daily Texts commands us to be strong and courageous. This is hard when we feel weak, fearful, broken. In faith, we stake our hope upon the concluding words of the verse. The Lord our God is with us wherever we go. Even when we feel we cannot go on. Even in the midst of death.

No more today. Only lament.

May these beloved ones rest in the love of the Lord. May we seek to do better. May we be courageous.

Be well, friends. You are loved.

Dear God, may your peace break forth in this world. Comfort the brokenhearted. Give courage to those who are afraid. Be with those who struggle to take another step today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Today’s message was quite helpful. The senseless killings, the random killings, become so overwhelming. God is with us, do not fear! Amen. Thank you for pastoral words.
