Thankful, 2015

November 26, 2015

Our evening tradition of sharing our “thankfuls” during our evening time of prayer continues. In our new home, we now gather in the room shared by our boys, Anders and Torsten. Erika, Greta, and I join them on the floor and together we share the things for which we are thankful. So, sitting here in my office before my first Thanksgiving Festival Worship as pastor of Grace, I’m going to start my morning by being thankful for so many things:

  • The Kansas City Royals are World Series champions!
  • Sidewalks
  • The gracious calling to preach God’s Word
  • Torsten’s full-throated rendition of the Bob the Builder song
  • Bookshelves
  • The many musicians of Grace
  • Our many good South Carolina memories and friends
  • Snow
  • Greta, our sweet girl who’s growing up so well
  • Hosmer’s Mad Dash
  • Goose Island beer
  • Exceptional coworkers and colleagues, old and new
  • Chicago-style pizza
  • Road trips
  • Alcides Escobear, the magical stuffed animal
  • J.R.R. Tolkien
  • The still-too-often neglected Seagull guitar
  • Bunk beds
  • The Johannine writings
  • Slovakia – can’t wait to get back
  • Public parks
  • Anders, the world’s best cuddler
  • French’s French Fried Onions
  • The unbeatable Wade Davis
  • Lefse, may it be made soon!
  • Call Committees
  • The morning commute with the kids
  • The new Star Wars movie
  • Detroit. Rise Up!
  • Superheroes
  • Freedom and peace, may they come to all
  • Disney World, through the eyes of children
  • That the best is yet to come
  • A neighborhood filled with children and laughter
  • Coffee
  • Grace Lutheran School
  • Knowing, and being known, by God in Christ
  • Erika. Always.

On this Thanksgiving, may your hearts be full of thankfuls!
