This sermon was preached at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Pawleys Island, SC, on Ash Wednesday, 2015. The picture is of my five-year-old daughter who, upon learning that she couldn’t attend worship because she was ill, insisted that her mother drive her down to church for some drive-by ashes. Apparently, she was pretty excited.
