May God Be Gracious

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us.” Psalm 67:1
Today’s Old Testament passage from the Daily Texts immediately calls to mind the Aaronic Blessing from Numbers 6, which is often used as a benediction. The psalm calls the nations to praise the Lord who has blessed them. This is not the psalm appointed tomorrow for Transfiguration Sunday, but it certainly fits. Tomorrow we will go up the mountain with Peter, James, and John and see Christ transfigured. Flanked by Moses and Elijah, Jesus’ glory is the fulfillment of Law and the prophets.
Erika and I are taking some time this weekend to celebrate her birthday. We are delighting in the grace and glory of God made manifest in the winter weather. So, that’s all for today! Back to mini-vacation. May you see the face of Jesus today. May his light reflect from your life into those around you. May you know God’s grace, and may you stay warm.
Be well, friends. You are loved.
God, with your people of all nations we rejoice in your grace and blessing. Shine brightly in our lives today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
