FAITH5

June 19, 2020

“So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

Following yesterday’s Dispatch, I was asked about FAITH5. I have mentioned it a few times recently without sharing again what it is. So, here goes.

FAITH5 is an easy way to talk about and model faith in the home or in small groups at church or elsewhere. Several leaders from Grace, myself included, attended a cross-generational (Cross+Gen) ministry conference a few years ago. We became convinced that this simple tool would benefit the people of Grace and have been implementing it ever since.

There are five steps in the process:

  • SHARE your highs and lows
  • READ a Bible verse or story
  • TALK about how the Bible reading might relate to your highs and lows
  • PRAY for one another’s highs and lows
  • BLESS one another

This method, developed by Faith Inkubators, can be a great way to do a five-minute devotion at bedtime with young children, a meaningful way to get people talking about their faith – and not just business – at a council or committee meeting, or a method to anchor a deep time of sharing in the middle of a worship service (such as GLOW).

Anyway, question asked and answered! I have found that FAITH5 helps people connect their faith to the rest of their lives, and does so across generational lines and other divides. We experience Christ in so many ways, but one of them is certainly in sharing God’s word and our lives with one another.

Also, happy Juneteenth!

Be well, friends. You are loved.

God, we delight in your Word. Alone, we share intimate moments of connection with you. Together, we support one another through mutual conversation. Bless us in our highs and in our lows, and use us to bless others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ah, thanks, Pastor David. I had just emailed a neighbor who had suggested I do some lectures here at Brookdale (Senior Solutions) in Des Plaines and I replied that while I am not organized enough to lecture that I would be delighted to lead interested persons in *Respecting Our Faiths* and I expect to find your model most helpful.
